Logic Problem [Oct. 16th, 2008|03:28 pm]
I was browsing some random message board, and someone mentioned this logic problem, saying it was a paradox with no real answer. Frankly, they were wrong. There absolutely IS a very logical answer, but to my surprise nobody picked up on it, and they continued to discuss it for 3 or 4 pages. Nobody figured it out which surprised me since, to me, it was quite obvious. Curious to see if the few of you who read my LJ can figure it out.

There are two people, person A and person B. One person is telling the truth, and one person is telling a lie. Here are the statements.

A: I always tell the truth and never lie.

B: I always lie and never tell the truth.

Alright, guys, have at it. Who is lying and who is telling the truth, person A or person B, and how did you come to that conclusion?

I promise that there is an answer, and that it is a very simple answer.

Alright [Sep. 27th, 2008|08:26 pm]
I need more female voices for Crow-Man. After months of fighting with it in my brain, that's what it boils down to. I don't care if it's a guy doing a believable girl, or if I can get someone else reliable enough to deal with it. No matter how I twist it, with what I've got, I'd have to make too many sacrifices to my vision to make it work.

So uh ... SUGGESTIONS people? >_>

So yeah. A huge part of what's at the center of Spore's galaxy was SPOILED for me, thanks to some jackass at GamingSteve. He got it in his head that some topic title had a spoiler, bitched about it, people bitched back, so to make a point he posted a topic where the title was a huge ass game spoiler. I absolutely love that. Remember when we got Hitler to stop his crusade against the Jews by making concentration camps of our own to make a point? Or how about when Martin Luther King Jr. fought for black equality by trying to get a bill passed that lowered the rights of Mexicans, making it so they had to drink for separate water fountains and go to different schools? How about when people fight to keep America a secular country by trying to get a copy of the Koran into every courthouse in the country? Purposefully becoming what you are fighting against is TOTALLY the way to win.

So ticked off.

Sims 2 is finally almost over [Aug. 24th, 2008|04:49 pm]
I've got something on my mind right now. Something big and unpleasant. Actually, a few things that are really bothering me and causing serious depression. >_> But instead of writing about it, I think I'm going to write about something 100% unrelated to get my mind OFF of shit.

And ... nope. Stupid shit is still haunting my brain. I think I'm going to just go to sleep early. =/

"Militant atheists opposed to spore" crap [Aug. 14th, 2008|03:15 am]
Alright, look. That's gotten blown way out of proportion. I think it's been misunderstood.

The quote by Will Wright, when I first saw it, I knew exactly what he was talking about.

On the official Spore forums, some guy posted about the religious superpowers in Spore. Now, for the different approaches to advancement in Spore, you end up with different special abilities, which keep getting referred to as "super powers." For religious in ... either tribal or civ phase, I forget which but probably both, you get super powers that appear to be actual religious miracles if you take the religious rout.

Anyway, this guy posted to the official Spore forums getting all up in arms over the inclusion of actual religious miracles in Spore. "Spore's supposed to be completely scientific blah blah blah this is absurd blah blah blah I am not playing a fantasy game." At the end of the article he stated, "I am appalled."

The topic grew to epic proportions. Some people arguing big time back and forth about the inclusion of apparent miracles. It got to the point where Will Wright himself posted in the topic, very elegantly describing what the design process was that resulted in these "powers" being available in the game. In classic Will Wright form, he ended the post with, "But keep discussing this. It's interesting to read."

Then later, during an interview, someone asked the obvious question about religious fanatics making a fuss over the theme of evolution being a driving force in the game. He responded that he had only gotten negative feedback from the atheists over the handling of religion in the game.

I knew right away what he was referring to, but, obviously, the gaming press did not. They took the quote and they ran with it. From their wording and coverage, they are making it sound like there is this group of disgruntled atheists protesting the game. After reading the stories, one would come to the conclusion that Richard Dawkins called up James Randi, and together they penned "publicly denounce spore and stop its release at any cost" into the secular agenda.

Christ ... get it?

I swear, I hate all media sometimes. Just because something is internet only, that doesn't mean it isn't beyond sensationalism. A group of Spore fans who were dissatisfied with how an aspect of the game was being presented suddenly becomes this huge atheist conspiracy against EA.

"There were ... two accidents?"

"No, one accident. Two of our drivers crashed into each other."

Uuuhhhh ...

Seriously, Sega. Seriously. >_>

Is this real? Is Sega just fucking with us now? Who WANTS these stupid gimmicks? If you're going to hit us with a gimmick, Sega, hit us with the gimmick that Mega Man 9 is using.

I don't think I've spoken to a single person who didn't fully endorse the Mega Man 9 idea, and I'm glad that Capcom was ballsy enough to go through with it. Seriously, why doesn't sega do something along THOSE lines. Why do they have to give us werewolfs and swords and psychic powers and guns and "ZOMG THREE D00DS AT ONCE!" gimmicks?

HAHAHA [Jul. 3rd, 2008|12:17 pm]
I just spent the past 2 and a half hours going on a little witch hunt, completely random. It was pointless, but strangely enjoyable for me, so I figured I'd transcribe here on my LJ. I need a post that isn't Spore or Crow-Man related.

Incoming LJ cut.

So ... [Jul. 2nd, 2008|08:33 am]
So, I just learned that, in Spore, other creatures on your planet evolve along with you.

For the last 3 years, I kept myself under the impression that this would not happen due to how free form the editor was, and have been waiting for the official word on that to come out, and for the spore fans to get pissy over yet another thing that they ASSUMED was in.

Crow-Man audio quality [Jun. 30th, 2008|06:10 am]
I've been playing around with the audio quality a lot. I really am not sure. Squirtle pointed out an audio glitch, and I've been trying my best to figure out how to avoid it.

My main suspect is the "leveler" tool in the latest Audacity beta. Sure, it evens out the audio levels a bit for me, saving me some work, but I think it's also amplifying stuff that it shouldn't. I might play around with the settings, but I'm not sure it can really be avoided.

Anyway, here is an MP3 file. It's got 3 versions of the exact same sound bite. The first is processed my normal way, only without the leveler. The second is processed exactly how I have it in episode one. The third is something completely different I'm trying. I've amplified the sound a bit so that audio errors become more apparent.

http://www.crow-man.com/audio/soundtest.mp3

Alrighty. What's the deal? Which of those three is the best? One, two, or three? Listen with headphones if you can, it'll help pinpoint any audio errors that might be showing up.

Crow-Man [Jun. 29th, 2008|04:36 am]
Episode one is out. Sounds pretty good, but it has a few audio issues. Volume problems during a few parts there. Squirtlekevin also pointed out a strange audio glitch that I definitely hear. I think I need to not use one of the tools in Audacity so much, the "leveler" is my main suspect. What can I say, sometimes I'm just too lazy to envelope down loud points. >_> I think it's increasing the volume of voice echoes that the human ear usually doesn't hear or something.

Going to have Squirtle help me get that figured out since he appears to be one of those audiophile types, then it's right to mixing episode 2.

I started writing eppy 3, but only got the first scene done. It's going to be a 6 scener, according to my synopsis here. Jacob, when I see you next, I'll send you the lines for scene one, and you can record them whenever. That way, when I send full lines out, you'll only have one more scene to do.

Joe, you've got a pretty important character in episodes 2 and 3. Chrissii, another bit part ... >_> ... but that IS going to change I swears it. Squirtlekevin, of course, you know the parts you'll be having. Considering the fact that you're voicing two very important characters that will be coming back a LOT, you're almost like the co-star at this point.

Crow-Man [Jun. 28th, 2008|01:08 am]
Eppy one is almost done. I just need to finish scene 3. As soon as Joe gets back to me with his redo lines that I E-mailed him, I can be done! =D

Things are sounding way better than even test podcast number two. This is the real deal right here. I'm excited!

EDIT: Alright. I lied. I'm not going to wait for new lines from Joe. I swapped all the stereo channels, and it sounded a lot better. I don't want to leave anything out there that might delay it any further.

All I need to do is record my outro, load it all up in Audacity, and tie it all together into one file. It is dang near ready! DANG NEAR!

I AM cutting eppy one in half. Episode one is a little shorter than I was going for. Episode 2 will be longer, though. Then I think eppy 3 will be between 15 and 20 minutes, not counting intro and outro segments. I think that's what I'll go for from there on out.

Script for episode 3 will be sent out soon. :D

WOW! [Jun. 26th, 2008|04:08 am]
Alright. The things I'm doing with Crow-Man now are quite improved. I'm very close to done with eppy one. I do have stuff to record that I can't right now. Will have to do that tomorrow. The scene I just finished, though, amazing.

Penny Acrade on the Spore Creature Creator [Jun. 18th, 2008|06:55 pm]
"It's a cool toy, and we endorse it. -- Gabe and Tycho of Penny Arcade"

^^ Originally quite critical of Spore, they now "endorse" the creator after having touched it. I count that as a victory. I wonder if this means they've changed their tune for Spore in general.

Now ssshhh I'm Crow-Maning.

So ... [Jun. 18th, 2008|02:03 pm]
When I first moved to the Reno/Sparks area, I went on and on about not liking my new surroundings. Then, later on, I got into my nitch there, and I was sad to move. Now that I'm back in Idaho, I remember why I didn't like Reno in the first place. >_>

Spore creature creator! [Jun. 17th, 2008|03:28 pm]
Check it out! I have got a Sporepedia profile and everything! I only have 4 things uploaded at the moment. I've got a lot more waiting to be put up, but the CC is a little buggy. One creature save and one creature share per session. Maybe a few more, but I'm only doing one to be safe. Any more, and it completely bugs out your "my creations" area, and fixing that is a pain, so for now I'm doing one creature at a time, and not all at once.

Also, for some odd reason, Bloomio appears to be my "most popular" creature. Probably because it was one of the first I uploaded, and someone was actually able to see it in the crowded mess that is the Sporepedia. I know I'm making it a point to vote up anything I see that I like ... idunno, I guess it's cute. I'm still a fan of my Tentalan, though.
